guess who, guess where! (by seier+seier)
A frameless operator, look closely, second pane in from the left, you see three small glass fasteners with two holes in the face. These mount the hinges and the latch, and you can see the weatherstripping round the perimeter. Beautiful and minimal.

I love the contrast between the heavy framed operable units, and the very narrow and visually light fixed units.

Steel sash factory windows used by Bernard Maybeck in this Christian Scientist church in Berkley. Highly unusual borrowing from industrial components at the time. Later we saw the Eames make a similar move with their Case Study Home #8.

brute force collaborative » Window Embodied Energy

A great consideration of frame materials vs embodied energy for high performance windows for applications such as Passive House certification.

Fascinating treatment of openings, but no windows!

An interesting convergence of box bays, shading devices, and frameless windows. Noted.

Baker House at MIT by Aalto. Love the combination of a hung window with a fixed view panel next to it. And how about that door - t&g plank door with perf’ed plywood vision panel.

Look at thes fantastic shading devices. I believe these are fabric, and I am imagining they are adjustable and that there are similar shades at the open spaces.
If you enjoy Make Window you should really follow subtilitas. They post so many buildings with interesting windows, I feel guilty to re-blog them all
